Cats often spend large parts of its day self-grooming and can therefore swallow large quantities of hair. This ingested hair can become compacted in the digestive tract, resulting in the formation of hairballs which are then either regurgitated or eliminated through its faeces. ROYAL CANIN® Hairball Care is composed of a specific blend of dietary fibres, including psyllium (rich in mucilage) and insoluble fibres to help naturally stimulate healthy intestinal transit. As a result, hair swallowed daily can be eliminated in its faeces rather than building up in the stomach and being regurgitated. ROYAL CANIN® Hairball Care contains a precise combination of nutrients with a high protein content (34%) and a high fat content (15%) to ensure that a healthy level of nutrients is maintained effectively. ROYAL CANIN® Hairball Care has been proven to eliminate twice as much excess hair in a cat’s body after just 14 days of feeding. To cater to each cat’s individual preferences, ROYAL CANIN® Hairball Care is also available as wet food in delicious gravy. If you’re considering mixed feeding, simply follow our feeding guidelines to ensure your cat gets an accurate amount of both wet and dry food for optimal benefit.

Transition Instructions

We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

FAQ

How are Royal Canin diets are preserved?

All of our diets are naturally preserved with mixed tocopherols, citric acid and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are also sterilized during the cooking and canning process to ensure they remain fresh.

How should I store my Royal canin Food?

Dry diets should be stored in their original bags and resealed between feeding. Most small bags include a resealable zipper. If the bag does not have this feature, it’s recommended to keep the product in the original bag and store in a dry, airtight plastic or steel container with a lid.

Canned, wet diets, once opened, need to be covered and refrigerated in a sealed plastic or ceramic container. If your pet doesn’t like cold food, try warming it to room temperature before feeding. (please note: if you use a microwave put the product in an appropriate microwave-safe container and always check temperature before feeding).

Why do some Royal Canin diets contains grains?

Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by products?

Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.

Where do the ingredients from Royal canin diets came from?

We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.

How do I ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pets

Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way. We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase. We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food. We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers. We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.

How do I introduce my pet in to Royal canin?

Introducing your pet onto a new diet should done gradually over 5 - 7 days to avoid the possibility of digestive upset. We suggest:

• Mix 25% of your new diet with 75% of your pet’s previous diet for 2 or 3 days
• Then mix the two diets 50% and 50% for 2 or 3 days
• Then mix 75% of the new diet with 25% of the previous diet for 2 or 3 days
• You can now try feeding with 100% of the new diet.

This guide is also useful for an easy transition of the same product from current bag to new bag.

If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. They will consider multiple factors when recommending an appropriate diet.
