Before using, create an opening in the nipple using one of these methods: Make a cross cut on the nipple with a razor blade. Alternatively, use a strong needle or cuticle scissors to insert and remove from the nipple's tip, as if making a tiny stitch or snip, and extract a small part of the nipple. Test the flow with water; a consistent drip or thin stream should be produced when applying mild pressure to the nipple. If any of the animals are sick, use a separate bottle or feed the sick animal last. After each feeding, clean the bottle, cap, and nipple using hot soapy water and rinse thoroughly. Consult your veterinarian if an animal is too small or weak to nurse.
