PURINA PRO PLAN VETERINARY SUPPLEMENTS Hydra Care is a nutrient-enriched water supplement for cats. Cats are descended from desert animals and have a famously weak thirst drive, which is why so many of them run mildly dehydrated on a dry diet, and why kidney and urinary problems are so common in the species.

Hydra Care works on that directly. In a Purina study, cats given Hydra Care consumed on average 50% more liquid per day than cats offered only water alongside dry food. It also helps decrease urine specific gravity, meaning more dilute urine, which is what you want for urinary tract health.

The mechanism is nutritional osmolytes, which aid the absorption of water at a cellular level rather than simply passing it through. It comes as a liver-flavoured liquid in single-serve pouches, offered alongside normal food and water, not instead of them.

When to Use It

  • Cats that drink very little, which is most of them
  • Cats on a dry-only diet, where food contributes almost no moisture
  • Supporting urinary tract health through more dilute urine
  • Supporting healthy kidneys, the organ most likely to trouble an ageing cat
  • Hot weather, which matters in the UAE more than most places

Composition

Water, glycine, glycerine, whey protein isolate, guar gum, liver flavour, natural flavour, potassium chloride.

How to Use

  • Offer one pouch per 2.3 kg of bodyweight per day to adult cats.
  • A cat needs to consume at least 60 ml per 2.3 kg of bodyweight daily for the benefit to apply.
  • Serve in a separate bowl alongside fresh water and normal food, never as a replacement for either.
  • Some cats take to it immediately, others need it introduced gradually. Try a small amount at first.
  • Serve at room temperature.

Please note: this is a complementary feed, not a medicine, and not a treatment for kidney disease. A cat that is drinking noticeably more than usual, losing weight, or urinating more frequently should see a vet, since those are signs of a problem rather than something a supplement fixes.

Storage

  • Store unopened pouches in a cool, dry place.
  • Once opened, refrigerate and use within 24 hours.
