Orijen makes some of the most protein-rich dry foods available, built around 85–90% quality animal ingredients. The first five ingredients are always fresh or raw — fresh ingredients preserved only by refrigeration, raw ingredients frozen at peak freshness — and used in WholePrey ratios of meat, organs, cartilage and bone, the way a dog or cat would eat in nature.
It means the recipe includes not just muscle meat but also organs, cartilage and bone — the most nutrient-dense parts of the prey. Because these supply so many nutrients naturally, Orijen needs very little added supplementation.
Orijen recipes contain no grain ingredients, and no soy, corn, wheat or tapioca. They are made in facilities that also process grains.
Orijen is very rich, so change over slowly — across 10–14 days, mixing a little more Orijen into the old food each day.
