Carnilove is made in the Czech Republic on one idea: feed a dog or a cat something close to what it would have eaten before we domesticated it. That means a great deal of meat, no grain and no potato, and proteins drawn from wild-origin animals — venison, wild boar, pheasant, reindeer, quail, duck — rather than the same chicken and beef found in almost everything else.
The Pets Club stocks the Carnilove range across the UAE: dry food for dogs and cats, wet paté and fillets in gravy, and freeze-dried raw treats.
Food intolerance in pets is usually a reaction to a protein the animal has eaten a great deal of. Chicken and beef top the list, not because there is anything wrong with them but because they are in most pet food, so most pets have had years of exposure.
Carnilove leans on meats a dog or cat has almost certainly never met. If your pet has itchy skin, recurring ear trouble or a loose stomach that no one has got to the bottom of, moving to a protein it has no history with is one of the first things a vet will suggest. Several Carnilove cat recipes go further and exclude chicken fat as well as chicken meat — worth knowing, because chicken fat appears in a great many foods that call themselves chicken-free.
Built on 70% fresh meat rather than dried meat meal. Fresh meat goes into the mixer as meat, so more of the amino acid profile and much more of the taste survives. There are recipes for adult dogs and cats, puppies, kittens, small and large breeds, and sterilised cats.
Higher energy, 70-75% animal ingredients, for working dogs, large breeds and cats that need concentrated calories. Also made in sterilised and kitten versions.
Smooth wet food at 67-70% meat and organs, in 300 g pouches and 400 g cans for dogs, and 100 g cans for cats. Complete meals, or a topper over kibble for a fussy eater.
Whole meat fillets in gravy for cats, 85 g pouches. Useful when a cat has decided it does not like paté — texture preference in cats is real and stubborn.
Single-protein and dual-protein treats at 96% meat, freeze-dried rather than cooked, so they keep the smell of raw meat. These work on dogs that ignore everything else.
Air-dried jerky for dogs at 90% meat in eight varieties, and grain-free crunchy snacks for cats.
Worth saying plainly, since it is the most useful thing on this page. Cats descend from desert animals and have a weak thirst drive — they evolved to take most of their water from prey, which is around 70% water. A cat fed only dry food does not drink enough to make up the difference and lives in mild chronic dehydration.
Over years, that is a recognised risk factor for the urinary blockages and kidney disease that are among the commonest reasons cats see a vet. Carnilove wet foods run at 79-82% moisture. Even swapping one meal a day to wet makes a measurable difference.
Change over gradually across 7 to 10 days, mixing an increasing proportion of the new food into the old. Cats especially can be resistant, and a cat that refuses food entirely for more than a day or two is at real risk of hepatic lipidosis — so never try to force a switch by simply removing the old food.
The Pets Club delivers Carnilove across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and the rest of the Emirates.
