Carnilove Freeze-Dried Raw Snack Turkey & Salmon is about as simple as a dog treat gets: fresh meat and organs, freeze-dried, and very little else.

Freeze-drying removes the water without heat. That matters, because heat is what destroys the volatile compounds that give meat its smell — and smell is most of what a dog responds to. The result is ultra-light, keeps at room temperature, and smells overwhelmingly of meat. For a dog that ignores ordinary biscuits, this usually works where nothing else does.

This recipe does two things the others do not. Salmon brings omega-3 fatty acids for skin and coat, and the mix carries Ascophyllum nodosum (a brown seaweed) plus live Lactobacillus at 5 billion cfu/kg. That is a genuine probiotic dose in a treat, which supports gut flora rather than just tasting good.

Feeding Guide

• Feed as a treat in addition to a complete daily food, not instead of it.
• Treats should make up no more than 10% of your dog's daily calories. Freeze-dried meat is very energy dense — a small piece carries more than it looks like it should — so reduce the main meal accordingly on days you use a lot.
• Break larger pieces down for small dogs and for training.
• Always provide fresh drinking water.
• Supervise your dog while treating.

Storage

• Store in a cool, dry place.
• Reseal the bag after each use. Freeze-dried food draws in moisture from the air once open, and moisture is what will kill the live cultures.
