The Flamingo Fumbo Interactive Cat Puzzle Feeder is a square puzzle board, 28.5 cm each way, set with upright cups, pegs and tipped tubes that a cat has to fish food out of with its paw.
Key Features
- A board rather than a maze, with several different hiding places — upright cups, open tubes and pegs to reach between
- Takes dry food, wet food or paste, and Flamingo notes liquid snacks can be hidden in it as well as dry
- Different heights and shapes on one board, so a cat has to use both paw and nose rather than one repeated action
- Doubles as a slow feeder, stretching a bolted meal into something that takes several minutes
- Dishwasher safe, and Flamingo states it suits cats from 3 months
- Grey and blue plastic, 28.5 cm square
- Made by Flamingo Pet Products, a Belgian pet supplier based in Olen with more than 45 years in the trade
Using It
- Start it easy. Leave the lid off or the pieces out at first so the cat wins quickly, then make it harder. A puzzle a cat cannot solve gets abandoned
- Fill only some of the stations to begin with, and leave the tubes on their sides so the food is visible
- Used as a slow feeder it stretches a meal out, which suits a cat that bolts food and then brings it back up
- Feed the normal ration out of it rather than adding it to meals
- Wash it after wet food or paste — the cups are the part that gets missed
- Always leave fresh, clean drinking water alongside
Good To Know
- Harder than the Hanto, which is the sensible first puzzle. If your cat has not used one before, start there
- A puzzle a cat cannot solve gets abandoned, and some cats give up rather than persist. Make it easier for a week before deciding it does not suit
- One per cat. Puzzle feeders create competition in a multi-cat house
- Do not put a cat that is underweight or off its food onto a puzzle feeder. Calories first
- The cups are small parts of a moulded board rather than loose pieces, but check them for damage as with any plastic toy
