Flamingo

Flamingo Pet Products is a Belgian supplier based in Olen, with more than 45 years in the trade and a catalogue of around 8,500 items sold through distributors in 55 countries. It is an accessories and snacks brand rather than a food brand, and the range here reflects that: litter, litter trays, bowls, grooming tools, cat scratchers, puzzle feeders, toys and treats.

Cat litter

Bentonite, clumping. Fine 0.3–1.2 mm clay that binds urine into a lump you lift out whole. Four bags: baby powder scent at 15 kg, the same scent with added zeolite at 12 kg, zeolite with lemongrass at 12 kg, and an unscented activated carbon version at 12 kg.
Silica, clumping. A 5 L bag of lightweight silica gel in fine 0.5–2 mm grains, unscented. Roughly 2 kg for 5 litres, so far easier to carry than clay — compare it on how long a bag lasts rather than on price per kilo.
Which to pick: zeolite or activated carbon if odour is the problem, unscented if your cat has started avoiding the tray, silica if the weight of a clay bag is the problem.

Litter trays and bowls

The Loki Hawai hooded tray, 50 x 38 x 37 cm, with a swing door, a replaceable carbon filter and a scoop in the box.
Shallow feeding dishes in plastic and glazed ceramic, wide enough that a cat is not pressing its whiskers into the sides.
Slow feeders for dogs: the ridged Mangi in 500 ml and 1500 ml, and the Osto at 400 ml, which has a bone-shaped obstacle that rotates as the dog eats.
The Trinka travel cup, with sealed food and water compartments and two folding rubber bowls.

Scratchers and cat toys

Posts in three heights: the Viva 2 at 52 cm for kittens and small cats, a 60.5 cm post with a built-in grooming brush, and the Big Cat at 118 cm with a 13.8 cm sisal post for large breeds. All are single posts rather than multi-level trees.
Puzzle feeders: the Hanto oval maze is Flamingo's level 1 and the right place to start; the Fumbo board with its cups and tubes is the harder of the two.
Battery-free batting toys like the Brain Train, and the motorised Flounder fish that flips when a cat touches it.

Grooming

Combs, thinning scissors in single- and double-sided versions, a mat breaker for opening up felted coats, and nail clippers in several sizes.
The double-sided thinner is the forgiving one to learn on; the single-sided takes more off per pass and is the one for a felted coat.

Treats

Hapki Chicken & Fish Strips for cats, 68.5% chicken and 13.2% pollock, for cats over 6 months.
Chew'n Snack soft beef sticks for dogs over 12 months, in a 700 g tub.
Texas Bubble knotted rawhide bones in four sizes, 100% buffalo hide. Always supervised, and always a size your dog cannot fit in its mouth.

Small pets and birds

Drinking bottles with stainless steel nozzles in 150 ml, 250 ml and 500 ml, metal exercise wheels in three sizes, and an exercise ball.
A mixed wild bird seed blend in 1 kg and 2.5 kg.
On wheels and balls, size is the safety question: a small pet should run with a flat back, never an arched one.
