Furrish
Furrish is a UK home-grooming range for dogs: everything you need between professional appointments, from the brush and comb through to the shampoo, the dryer towel and the cologne at the end.
The Shampoos
Baby Powder - the all-rounder. Start here if nothing more specific applies
Pretty Pup - the puppy one, mildest in the range, green cucumber scent
Nice & Gentle - sensitive skin, with oat extract and no added fragrance
White Wonder - optical brighteners for white and pale coats
Deep Clean - lemongrass oil for greasy coats and lingering odour
Easy Peasy - shampoo and conditioner in one step
All six share the same base of glycerin and hydrolysed wheat protein, and all six use ammonium laureth sulfate as the detergent
Brushes And Combs
Soft Slicker is the everyday brush, in S, M and L. If you buy one brush, buy this
Firm Slicker has a firmer pad for thick, curly and wavy coats, in M and L
Ball Pin Slicker has rubber-tipped pins - the gentlest option, for puppies and sensitive skin
Detangling Comb and Comb with Handle find the knots a brush rides over. Comb first, brush second
De-Shedding Tool pulls out dead undercoat, which is where the hair on your floor comes from
Bath Time Scrubber works shampoo down to the skin, which is the step most baths miss
The Colognes
Cosmo - sunflower floral with jasmine and lime blossom, the unisex one
Baby Powder - soft and clean, the gentlest
Buzz - mint, lavender and rosemary over sandalwood and spice
Ariel - cedar and musk lifted with lemon and orange
All four are 150ml on the same base. Only the fragrance differs
A Sensible Grooming Order
Comb and brush the dry coat first, with detangling spray on any knots. Never bath a matted dog - water tightens mats
Wash with warm water, right down to the skin, and rinse until it runs clear
Dry properly with the microfibre towel. A damp undercoat in humid heat is where hot spots and yeast start
Brush again while the coat is damp rather than dry, then finish with cologne if you want it
Ears, nails and paws on their own schedule - weekly for most dogs
Good To Know
This is a dog range. Cats groom off whatever you put on them and tolerate fragrance far less well, so check with your vet before using any of it on a cat
Dog skin sits near pH 7 to 7.5 where human skin is nearer 5.5. That is why human and baby products are the wrong thing to use on a dog, however gentle they are
Patch test anything new, and start with the unscented options if your dog has reacted to a grooming product before
None of this is medicated. Persistent itching, bald patches, a smell that returns within a day of a bath, or a sore or discharging ear all need a vet rather than another product
