Description
The Georplast Soft Touch Double Pet Bowl, Stainless Steel is the stainless steel version of the Soft Touch double bowl - the same soft-touch holder, with two removable 460ml steel bowls instead of plastic ones.
Key Features
- Two 460ml stainless steel bowls, removable
- Holder measures 31 x 20 x 3.5cm
- Steel does not scratch the way plastic does, so it stays hygienic far longer
- Dishwasher safe, unlike most moulded plastic
- Three colours: Blue, Green and Grey
- This item is currently out of stock
Why Steel Is Usually The Right Answer
- Plastic bowls develop fine scratches with use, and those scratches hold bacteria that washing does not reach. Steel does not
- Plastic bowls are the classic trigger for feline acne - the blackheads and spots some cats get on the chin. Switching to steel resolves a good proportion of cases on its own
- Steel also does not absorb smell or stain, which matters with oily wet food
- The one downside is noise. A steel bowl rings when a collar tag hits it, and a few nervous animals genuinely mind
Bowl Hygiene
- Wash food bowls daily and water bowls every day or two. Biofilm - the slippery film you can feel on a neglected water bowl - builds within a day in warm weather
- Plastic scratches, and scratches hold bacteria. Once a plastic bowl is visibly scored, replace it
- Feline acne is a real thing and plastic bowls are the classic trigger. If your cat has blackheads or spots on the chin, switch to stainless steel or ceramic
- Hot water and detergent, or the dishwasher if the bowl is marked safe for it
Who Makes It
- Georplast s.r.l. is an Italian manufacturer founded in 1970, based at Mezzago just outside Milan
- They injection-mould their own plastic rather than buying it in, and the whole pet range is made in Italy
- Design is done with an Italian studio, which is why the trays and carriers look less utilitarian than most of the category
Good To Know
- Colours vary by batch and the photograph is a guide. Pick on size first - the colour is the part that matters least to the cat
