Balanced feed for young dogs with 5 animal proteins and rice

As soon as your dog reaches seven months, it is time to change him over from puppy food to young dog food. Because your four-legged friend is now an exuberant teenager! He has entered a phase of development in which he grows more slowly than in his first six months of life. This is why we developed our fit & vital Junior specially as a food for young dogs. It contains less energy than puppy food – and supplies exactly the right nutrients and minerals that a young dog needs for healthy growth from seven months onwards. Our fit & vital Junior is here with five animal proteins, including proteins from poultry and lamb. Gluten-free rice is highly digestible and provides energy to fuel boisterous fun. Calcium and vitamin D3 help with the healthy development of your dog’s bones, ligaments, tendons and joints. And a complex of vital substances from yeasts and herbs supports his digestion.

What are the benefits of fit & vital Junior?

  • Balanced variety of proteins
  • Gluten-free recipe
  • Supports the musculoskeletal system
  • Important minerals for healthy growth

*) When the final weight is reached,
gradually change over to a suitable adult food.

Please note: As the dog approaches its final weight, the energy requirement drops off and the
amount of food should be adjusted in line with the feeding guide.

General feeding guide:
• Weigh young dogs regularly and document weight development.
• It may be necessary to adjust the amount of food for individual pets.
• Do not give too much to eat – make sure your dog grows at a moderate rate.
• If you give snacks, reduce the amount of food accordingly. Hint: use part of the daily food ration as a snack substitute.
• The food can be given dry or soaked briefly in warm water to soften
• Split the daily food ration between several meals (2-3).
• Make sure fresh drinking water is available at all times.

FAQ

Is Happy Dog a good dog food?

Super premium quality with taste guarantee. highest acceptance and digestibility. grain-free and single protein recipes (depending on product and recipe) veterinarian recommended for feed intolerances.

Is Happy Dog grain-free?

Super premium quality with taste guarantee. highest acceptance and digestibility. grain-free and single protein recipes (depending on product and recipe) veterinarian recommended for feed intolerances.

What is the meat content of the food?

The frequently used terms “meat content” or “meat ratio” are not scientific definitions and can, therefore, be interpreted very differently by the manufacturers.

Information on the “meat ratio” is only roughly comparable if it is defined as the proportion of animal protein in the overall protein content. In this case, the “meat ratio” in our Happy Dog Supreme products can be as high as 86.5 % (Fit & Well Sport).

The carbohydrate content is generally missing. Where we can find the information about carbohydrate content?

The carbohydrate content is often given as NFE.

NFE stands for:

nitrogen-free extract (another term taken from the chemistry lab).

The NFE can be easily calculated using the following formula:

NFE = 100 % – percentage of crude protein – percentage of crude fat – percentage of crude fibre – percentage of crude ash – percentage of moisture.

Why does Happy dog packaging not showing animal protein source (meat) at the top of the list of all products?

Happy Dog uses the individual declaration and thus lists all the ingredients e.g. poultry meat meal, lamb meat meal, salmon meal, etc., individually. Because the individual ingredients are listed in decreasing order by weight, the individual animal protein sources/ meat meals unfortunately slip down the list. If only one animal protein source is used in the recipe (just lamb meat, for example), then meat can rise to the top of the list in many recipes.

This would mean that the natural variety of animal protein sources is lost, however. Of course, recipes have to be adapted to the individual requirements of each pet. Older dogs should be given less protein as this reduces the stress on their internal organs. And, of course, this means that older dogs should also eat less meat meal. Puppy food and high-performance food must contain more protein,as puppies and hard-working dogs naturally have a higher protein requirement.

When should I change my puppies over to young dog food or food for adult dogs?

A puppy is classed as a young dog when he reaches seven months. At this point you should change him over to a food tailored to his development phase. Perhaps you are wondering how much food is recommended for young dogs. The right amount of food is determined by the final weight of your young dog and his age in months. You can take this from the feeding guide below. It is also useful to know that, in contrast to the puppy period in which your little friend still needed several meals each day, you can now change him over to 2 meals per day. His stomach is now large enough for this rhythm to suit him. As a rule of thumb, the total amount of food every day should be 4-6 % of your dog’s body weight.

Our kibble with the hole – for even better digestion

Have you seen? Our kibble is heart-shaped and has a hole in the middle. This makes it easier for your dog to chew and digest. The increased surface area also allows your dog’s stomach juices to break up the food more easily.
