Description
JBL ProNovo Danio Grano XS Fish Food is JBL's everyday staple food for danios and other small shoaling fish. JBL gives the target fish size as 3 to 5cm.
Key Features
- Everyday staple: a complete food meant to be the one your fish get most days, rather than a treat or a supplement.
- Granulate, not flakes: granules sink slowly instead of sitting on the surface, so fish feeding at every level get a share rather than just the ones at the top.
- Prebiotic: JBL adds prebiotic fibre across the ProNovo range.
- Very fine granules: sized for a small adult mouth, which is a different thing from a fry food.
- Sized for 3 to 5cm fish: JBL works this range out by body length, because mouth size is what decides whether a fish can actually eat a piece.
How To Feed It
- Feed small amounts two or three times a day rather than one big meal. Fish have very short guts and do better on little and often.
- Give only what is cleared in two or three minutes. Anything still drifting after that will rot in the substrate and push your nitrate up.
- Net out the leftovers. Uneaten food is the usual reason a tank goes cloudy a day or two after feeding.
- A fasting day once a week does healthy adult fish no harm and gives the filter a chance to catch up.
Good To Know
- Overfeeding is behind most cloudy water and high nitrate. The food is rarely the problem; the amount almost always is.
- Keep the tub shut and somewhere cool and dry. Damp gets into fish food easily, and once it does the vitamins go and mould can follow.
- Buy a size you will finish inside a few months. A big tub left open for a year is a false economy.
- Match the piece size to the mouth. Anything a fish cannot swallow gets picked at, dropped and left in the gravel.
- No one food suits every fish in a community tank. A staple plus something that reaches the bottom feeders works better than one food for all.
