The Ceva Adaptil Junior Collar for Puppies is the puppy version of the Adaptil collar, released by your puppy's own body heat for four weeks - aimed at the first weeks in a new home, night-time crying and early training.
Key Features
- Adjustable collar for puppies under 15 kg, with a neck of up to 37.5 cm.
- Copies the appeasing pheromone the mother produces while nursing, which is the signal a puppy is leaving behind when it comes to you.
- The pack lists four situations it is aimed at: being alone at home, loud noises, crying, and training.
- Ceva positions it for settling a new puppy, night-time crying and socialisation and puppy classes.
- Warmed by body heat, so it keeps working in the car, at the vet and at puppy class - not just at home.
- Lasts four weeks, then needs replacing.
- Drug-free, and Ceva states it can be used alongside other medication or treatment.
How To Use
- Put the collar on and adjust it so two fingers fit between the collar and your puppy's neck, then cut off the excess strap.
- Leave it on continuously. It works from your puppy's body heat, so it stops working when it is taken off.
- Take it off for bathing and shampooing, and put it back on once your puppy is dry.
- Replace it every 4 weeks.
Good To Know
- Adaptil Junior and the small Adaptil Calm collar use the same dog appeasing pheromone and both fit a neck up to 37.5 cm. Junior is the pack Ceva positions for puppies and new arrivals; Calm is positioned for adult dogs. If you already have one, you do not need the other.
- Puppies grow fast. Check the fit every few days - two fingers should slide between the collar and the neck - and never leave a collar on a puppy that has become tight.
- Supervise a young puppy wearing any collar, and take it off in a crate or around anything it could snag on.
- A crying puppy in its first nights is normal and usually settles with routine, a warm bed near you and gradual separation. A collar supports that; it does not do it for you.
- Adaptil copies the pheromone a nursing mother dog produces. It is a dog signal; it has no effect on cats or people.
- Ceva states on the pack that this is not a sedative or a tranquilliser. It does not make a puppy drowsy - it changes how secure a situation feels to them.
- Puppy classes and early socialisation matter far more than any product. Book them.
- A puppy that will not settle, cries constantly, or stops eating may be unwell. Get them seen by a vet.
