Exo Terra Reptile & Amphibian Supplies in the UAE

Exo Terra products are designed by European herpetologists — people who keep the animals rather than only sell to them. That shows in the details: front-opening doors on terrariums so you are not reaching down over a startled animal, screen tops that let UVB through, substrates that hold a burrow open instead of collapsing.

The Pets Club stocks the Exo Terra range across the UAE: glass terrariums and screen enclosures, lighting and heating, substrates, hides and decor, misting and fogging systems, filters and monitoring equipment.

Start Here: The Three Things That Matter Most

If you are setting up your first enclosure, these are the points that determine whether an animal thrives or slowly declines. They are also the three most commonly got wrong.

1. UVB Is Not Optional

Reptiles manufacture vitamin D3 in their skin using UVB light, and without D3 they cannot absorb dietary calcium — no matter how much calcium you dust onto their food. The result is metabolic bone disease: soft, deforming bones, tremors, a rubbery jaw, and eventually death. It is one of the most common illnesses in captive reptiles and almost entirely preventable.

Two things people get wrong. Glass and plastic block UVB, so a sunny window does nothing and a bulb outside a glass lid does nothing. And UVB output fades long before the bulb stops giving light — a fluorescent that still looks bright can be producing almost none, which is why they are replaced every six months. Write the fitting date on the bulb.

2. A Temperature Gradient, Not a Temperature

Reptiles cannot generate their own body heat. They regulate it by moving between warm and cool areas, and that process drives digestion and immune function — a reptile kept too cool stops digesting properly and can develop gut impaction with food still inside it.

So an enclosure needs a genuinely hot basking spot at one end and a genuinely cool retreat at the other. This is the main reason enclosure size matters: a small box heated by any real basking lamp becomes uniformly hot, with nowhere to escape to.

Measure the basking surface with an infrared thermometer, not the air. A surface under a lamp can be far hotter than the air above it, and that gap is how reptiles get burned in setups the keeper believed were correct.

3. Every Animal Needs Somewhere to Hide

Reptiles and amphibians are prey as well as predators. Without a secure retreat they live under constant low-grade stress, which shows up as reduced appetite, poor shedding and greater susceptibility to illness.

Keepers who cannot see their animal often conclude it does not need a hide. It is precisely backwards — an animal that knows it can retreat becomes more confident and more visible over time. Give it two: one at the warm end and one at the cool end, so it never has to choose between feeling safe and being the right temperature.

The Range

Terrariums and Enclosures

  • Natural Terrariums — glass, in wide and tall formats. Wide suits ground dwellers like leopard geckos and bearded dragons; tall suits climbers like crested geckos and tree frogs.
  • Screen Terrariums — aluminium mesh. The right choice for chameleons and other species prone to respiratory infection in still air.
  • Dart Frog and Tree Frog Terrariums — with built-in drains and a ventilation system that keeps the front glass clear in high humidity.
  • Paludariums — part water, part land, for semi-aquatic species.
  • Habitat Kits and Starter Kits — complete setups where the parts are guaranteed to fit each other.
  • Faunariums — plastic containers for transport and, importantly, quarantining new arrivals.

Lighting and Heating

  • UVB 100 Tropical, UVB 150 Desert, UVB 200 High Output — matched to how much UV your species evolved under
  • Solar Glo — mercury vapour bulb giving UVB, UVA, light and heat in one fitting
  • TerraSky UV — LED with adjustable UVA and UVB lasting 20,000 hours
  • TerraSky — planted terrarium LED (no UVB)
  • Intense Basking Spot — tight-beam heat lamp
  • Natural Light — 6700K daylight bulb at 98 CRI
  • Reptile Domes, UV Reflectors, Compact Tops and Glow Lights — fixtures that can double the UVB a bulb actually delivers

Substrates

  • Stone Desert in black, red and ochre — real desert soil that holds a shaped burrow once dry, unlike loose sand
  • Plantation Soil, Forest Bark, Bamboo Forest Floor, Forest Moss — for humid and bioactive setups

Humidity, Water and Monitoring

  • Monsoon Solo II and Multi II misting systems
  • Fogger ultrasonic fog generator
  • Repti Clear filters, Repti Flo pumps and the FX-200 turtle canister filter
  • Digital thermometers, hygrometers, the Combometer and an infrared thermometer

A Note on Loose Substrate

Any particulate substrate can be swallowed with food and cause gut impaction, which is serious and sometimes fatal. Feed in a dish, or move the animal to a separate feeding container. A reptile that stops passing droppings, goes off food or strains without result needs a vet promptly.
