The Four Paws Magic Coat 3-in-1 Grooming Scissors combines straight and thinning edges in one scissor, which is what most home groomers actually need - a straight blade to take length off and a thinning blade to blend the line so it does not look cut.
Key Features
- Straight blade for taking length off
- Thinning edge for blending the cut into the surrounding coat
- Non-slip finger grips
- Stainless steel blades
Cutting Safely
- Never cut towards the skin. Point the blades along the body, not into it, and cut with the flat of your free hand between the blade and the dog
- Comb the hair up and cut above the comb, so the comb is what stops the blade rather than the skin
- Stop if the dog moves. A dog that fidgets while scissors are open is how most grooming injuries happen - most of them are to the ears, the eyelids and the webbing between the toes
- Loose skin lifts into the blades, particularly in the armpits, the groin and behind the ears. Pull the skin flat before you cut
Why Thinning Blades Matter
- A straight cut on a dog leaves an obvious line. Thinning blades remove some of the hair and leave the rest, so the join disappears
- Cut with the thinning blade at an angle to the coat rather than straight across, and go over the same area twice rather than cutting deep once
- They are also the safer blade for a beginner, because a mistake with thinning blades shows far less
