The Chris Christensen SmartWash50 Concentrated Shampoo for Dogs and Cats is Chris Christensen's ultra-concentrated everyday grooming shampoo, in two fragrances. It dilutes up to 50:1, which is what makes it economical - and means it must never be used straight from the bottle.

Key Features

  • Dilutes up to 50:1, so one bottle makes a great deal of working shampoo - this is why it is the professional grooming choice.
  • Deep cleans without stripping the coat's essential oils.
  • Removes waxes, oils, resins and product build-up.
  • Works in a bathing system or recirculating machine as well as by hand.
  • Suits all coat types.
  • Made in the USA.
  • Safe for dogs and for cats.
  • Subtle fragrance rather than a heavy one.
  • Two scents: Tropical Breeze and Papaya Starfruit.

How To Use

  • Dilute first - up to 50:1, and never less than 25:1.
  • Roughly 20 ml of shampoo to 1 litre of warm water gives about 50:1.
  • Pre-wet the coat, apply the diluted shampoo, and work into a lather.
  • Rinse thoroughly until the water runs clear. Repeat if needed.

Available in: Tropical Breeze and Papaya Starfruit, each in 354 ml and 3.8 L.

Good To Know

  • This is a 50:1 concentrate and must never be used neat. Chris Christensen's instruction is to dilute it at least 25:1 and up to 50:1 - straight from the bottle it is far too strong for skin.
  • Mixing at 50:1: roughly 20 ml of shampoo to 1 litre of warm water. At 25:1 it is about 40 ml per litre. Measure it rather than guessing.
  • The 3.8 litre bottle is the professional size and weighs around 4 kg full. The Chris Christensen gallon pump fits it if you would rather not pour.
  • This one is safe for cats as well as dogs, but not every SmartWash50 is - the Whitening & Brightening version is labelled for dogs. Check before using any of them on a cat.
  • Diluted shampoo does not keep. Mix what you need for the bath and pour the rest away.
  • Avoid the eyes. If any gets in, rinse immediately with plenty of clean water. For external use only.
  • If your pet has sensitive skin or has reacted to a product before, test a little on a small patch first and stop using it if you see redness, itching or scurf.
  • Rinse until the water runs completely clear. Shampoo left in the coat is one of the most common causes of itching after a bath.
  • Dry thoroughly - skin folds, ears, armpits and between the toes. A coat left damp in UAE humidity is how hot spots and yeast get started.
  • Washing too often strips the coat of the oils that protect it. Most dogs need a bath every four to eight weeks unless your vet has said otherwise.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • This is a grooming product, not a treatment. Persistent itching, scratching, hair loss, scabs, a smell or a rash point to a skin problem - fleas, allergies, mites or infection - and need a vet rather than a different shampoo.
