The Fida Heavy Duty Dog Leash with Traffic Handle is a fixed lead with two handles — a padded one at the end and a second short handle down near the clip, so you can bring a dog in close at a kerb without wrapping the lead round your hand.

Choosing A Length

• 4 ft — city walking, close control, dogs that need to stay beside you
• 5 ft — the usual compromise, and the one most people are happiest with
• 6 ft — more freedom to sniff, but more lead to manage around other people
• The traffic handle means a 6 ft lead can still be shortened instantly, which is the point of the design

Good To Know

• A fixed lead is what loose-lead training needs. A retractable lead teaches a dog that pulling gets it more room
• Do not wrap the lead round your hand. If the dog lunges, a wrapped lead does not let go, and broken fingers are how that ends
• Check the stitching at the hook every few weeks. That is the point that carries the load
• Wipe the webbing with warm water and mild soap and let it dry fully. Do not machine wash or tumble dry the hardware
