Description

Hobby Easy Net Floating Aquarium Net is a black-mesh aquarium net with rounded corners. Both details are deliberate: the rounded corners stop a fish wedging into a seam, and black mesh is far less visible to a fish in the water than white, so it triggers less of a flight response.

Key Features

  • It Floats. An air chamber in the frame keeps it on the surface, so you are not fishing for your net as well as your fish - and you can park a netted fish at the surface while you open a bag.
  • Extra-Soft Netting, embedded into the frame so it cannot pull loose and snag a fin.
  • Four Sizes: 8cm, 12cm, 17cm and 21cm across.
  • Rounded Corners: no corner for a fish to jam into, and no seam to catch a fin ray.
  • Black Mesh: less visible to the fish, and it makes a pale fish easier for you to see once it is in the net.

Catching A Fish Without Hurting It

  • Wet the net first. A dry net takes scales and mucus with it.
  • Do not chase. Park the net somewhere and herd the fish into it with your other hand, or with a second net. Chasing round the tank exhausts the fish and wrecks the layout.
  • Use the biggest net that fits, not the smallest. A big net catches on the first attempt; a small one takes six.
  • Keep it in the water. Lift the fish out in a cup of water rather than in the air - a netted fish out of water can damage itself in seconds.
  • Never net a spiny fish - a catfish or a loach will tangle its spines and you will have to cut it free. Use a container instead.

Good To Know

  • Pick the size above.
  • Rinse it in clean water and let it dry fully. A damp net in a cupboard here grows mould within days.
  • Keep separate nets for separate tanks if you can. A shared net is one of the easiest ways to move disease between tanks.
  • Check the mesh for pulls before each use. One broken strand becomes a hole that shrimp find immediately.
