Description

Hobby Flora Stone Artificial Aquarium Plant solves a problem the other artificial plants do not: it stands on its own decorative ceramic base, so it needs no substrate at all. If you keep a bare-bottom tank, a breeding tank, or cichlids that excavate everything, this is the one that stays where you put it.

Key Features

  • Self-Supporting Ceramic Base: no planting and no anchoring. It simply sits on the glass or on a thin layer of sand.
  • Works In Bare-Bottom Tanks: breeding tanks, quarantine tanks and cichlid tanks where substrate is either absent or constantly moved.
  • Four Designs: Stone 4, 5, 6 and 8, each a different planting. Pick above.
  • Ceramic Weight: heavy enough that a large, determined fish will not shift it, which is the usual failure of lightweight decor.
  • Inert And Fish-Safe, with no effect on water chemistry.

Where It Earns Its Keep

  • Cichlid tanks. Most cichlids rearrange a tank as a matter of principle. A ceramic-based plant is one of very few planted looks that survives them.
  • Cold-water and goldfish tanks, where live plants get eaten and substrate gets dug.
  • Tanks you strip regularly. Lift it out, scrub it, put it back. No replanting.

Good To Know

  • Pick the design above. All four are the same idea in different foliage.
  • Rinse it under the tap before it goes in, and have a look for sharp edges or casting flash on any moulded piece.
  • Keep decor clear of the filter intake and the heater. Blocking either is how a tidy layout quietly becomes a problem.
  • Ceramic is heavy and glass is glass. Lower it in rather than dropping it, especially in a tank with a thin base pane.
  • Scrub algae off under the tap with a brush. Never use detergent on anything that goes back into a tank.
