Description
JBL ArtemioSal - 200ml is the salt you mix with water to hatch brine shrimp eggs. It is not a fish food and does nothing on its own: it goes together with a tin of artemia eggs and a hatchery to produce live nauplii for fry.
Key Features
- Blended for hatching, not for marine tanks: the mix targets the salinity and pH that give a good artemia hatch, which is not the same thing as reef salt.
- Dissolves readily: it goes into solution quickly, so a hatch can be set going without waiting around.
- Microalgae included: JBL adds algae to the mix to feed the nauplii once they have hatched.
- 200ml pack: enough for many hatches, since each one takes a small measure.
- Eggs sold separately: pair it with JBL ArtemioPur.
Using It
- Mix to the strength given on the pack in clean water, and keep the hatching vessel warm and aerated.
- Rinse hatched nauplii in fresh water before feeding them into a freshwater tank.
- Make up a fresh batch for each hatch rather than reusing old salt water.
Good To Know
- This is a hatching salt. Do not use it to make up water for a marine aquarium.
- Keep the pack sealed and dry, because salt takes up moisture from the air readily.
- Live artemia needs three things: the eggs, this salt, and an aerated hatchery. None of them does the job alone.
