JBL Clynol - 250ML

JBL Clynol is a liquid water cleaner for fresh and saltwater aquariums. JBL says it binds heavy metals, ammonium and proteins, and takes out the discolouration and smell that come with them.

• Fresh and saltwater: one of the few conditioners in the range that covers both.
• Binds heavy metals, ammonium and proteins: JBL's stated mechanism, and the reason it is sold as a clean-up rather than a clarifier.
• Takes out discolouration and odour: a tank that smells is usually telling you something is breaking down in it.
• Two bottle sizes: 100ml and 250ml.
• Dose by water volume: work out the litres you actually have, not the tank's advertised size. Substrate, rock and equipment take up a surprising amount of it.
• Shake before use: give the bottle a shake and measure with the dosing lid rather than pouring by eye.

Good To Know

• Keep the bottle closed, upright and out of direct sun. Heat and light shorten the shelf life of any liquid water treatment.
• Keep it away from children and pets, and do not decant it into a drinks bottle.
• A water conditioner is not a medicine. A fish that is visibly ill needs a diagnosis, not a bottle of conditioner.
• The claims about binding heavy metals, ammonium and proteins are JBL's.
• A reading of ammonium above zero in a stocked tank means something is wrong with the filter or the stocking. Deal with that as well as dosing.
• Running a UV-C clarifier or carbon alongside a liquid treatment can strip it out of the water. Turn them off while it works if you want the full effect.
