FAQ

What do the CheckUp Testing Strips for Glucose contain?

50 individual CE-grade diagnostic testing strips to identify levels of glucose in the urine.

How do I use the testing strips?

Fully submerge the testing strip square into a urine sample for 2 seconds. After waiting exactly 30 seconds (and no more), compare your color result next to the color legend to identify your result.

How can I collect a urine sample before using the Testing Strips?

Coastline Global has created a product line of noninvasive urine collection sample methods for both cats and dogs. Our mission is to elevate higher standards of animal welfare in the veterinary and pet retail industries.

When is the best time to collect a urine sample from my pet?

It is best to always collect a urine sample in the morning. If the test is positive, you can repeat it at another time during the day.

We recommend doing the test twice to confirm your result. You should collect one urine sample in the morning and the second one around noon. Please note that the morning urine samples are generally more concentrated.

What is glucose and why is it important to test for it?

Glucose is a sugar that travels around our bloodstream. It gives our cells energy and can be obtained from either food or is produced within the body. Healthy animals should not have glucose in their urine and if there is a presence, it usually indicates some health issues.\

I am nervous that my cat or dog might be diabetic. What are some common symptoms?

Some signs that your pet might be diabetic include excessive thirst, more frequent urination, lethargy or general weakness, or a decreased appetite. If you observe any of these behaviors, it would be good to test for glucose levels.

What is an average level of glucose for my cat or dog?

Always consult your veterinarian about your pet’s specific situation.

A healthy mammal who has no history of high glucose should have absolutely no glucose present in the urine. There will always be some glucose present in the blood depending on how much sugar is consumed, but a healthy body should always have no glucose in the urine.

However, for a diabetic cat, dog or human, the presence of low levels of glucose is common and you should consult with your vets what the tolerance levels.

So if my cat or dog is diabetic and tests positive in the 100-250, is this normal?

It might be normal, depends on the instruction from your veterinarian. Please contact your veterinarian for further information.

If my cat or dog does not have diabetes, then what do any positive glucose levels mean?

If you are unaware of an issue with your pet and there is presence of glucose in the urine, please bring a urine sample to the veterinarian for further analysis.

A presence of glucose in the urine might indicate high blood sugar. We recommend contacting your veterinarian for further analysis and diagnostics.

Once opened, how long will my CheckUp Testing Strips for Glucose last?

Once the seal is broken for the container, the shelf life of the strips is 110 days, or 3-4 months. There is a sachet inside the container to absorb any humidity in the air. Please keep the cap closed tightly and store in a dry and cool environment.
