Description
The Dymax AP1000 AC/DC Air Pump is an air pump with a built-in rechargeable battery that keeps aerating your tank during a power cut, switching to battery automatically.
Key Features
- Runs from mains (AC 220–240 V, 50 Hz) and charges its rechargeable 6 V battery at the same time
- Switches to battery (DC) mode automatically when the power fails
- Can also run from 4 × 1.5 V dry-cell batteries — useful for transporting fish
- Air output: 250 L/h (Dymax specification)
- 3-way switch: OFF / HI / LO. On battery, LO runs the pump at 50-second intervals to stretch backup time
- 12-month warranty shown on the box
Good To Know
- A backup air pump is cheap insurance: in a power cut, oxygen in a stocked tank can drop to dangerous levels within hours.
- Test the battery backup every few months by unplugging the pump.
- Place the pump above the water line or fit a check valve, so water can't siphon back into it.
- Leave a drip loop in every power cable, so water running down the cord drips off before it reaches the socket.
