FARMA Super Mix Mineral Pigeon Supplement - 12kg

The FARMA Super Mix Mineral Pigeon Supplement is a mineral and vitamin supplement for pigeons — calcium stone, grit, redstone and zeolite with added vitamins and trace elements — supplied in a 10 + 2 kg bucket.

Key Features

• A supplement, not a feed. FARMA's guidance is to give it at up to 20% of the daily ration alongside the grain mix
• Declared at 35.6% calcium, 1.06% phosphorus, 0.7% sodium and 0.56% magnesium, with 6.0% crude protein and 4.0% crude fibre
• Contains calcium stone, grit, zeolite (clinoptilolite E567), redstone, cereals, pulses and oil seeds, plus calcium carbonate, monocalcium phosphate and salt
• Fortified with vitamins A, D3, E and the B group, and with iron, manganese, zinc, copper and iodine
• Supplied in a resealable 12 kg bucket — 10 kg plus 2 kg free — which keeps damp out far better than a sack
• Made in Greece by Farma Friends, a pet-food maker near Thessaloniki that has been blending seed since 1997

How To Use

• Offer it in a separate pot so birds take what they need, or mix it through at up to a fifth of the ration as FARMA advises
• Keep the pot dry. Mineral grit sets solid once it gets wet, and birds will not touch a fouled pot
• Demand rises sharply during breeding and through the moult, when hens are laying and birds are growing feather

Good To Know

• This does not replace the grain mix. Fed as the main ration it would leave birds badly short of energy and protein
• Grit and calcium are what let a pigeon grind grain and form eggshell. A hen laying without enough calcium draws it out of her own skeleton
• Once the bucket is open, keep the lid on. Zeolite and grit both pull moisture straight out of the air
• Soft-shelled eggs, splay-legged squabs or a hen going down after laying point to a calcium or management problem worth a vet's opinion, not just more minerals
