Which Furrish Cologne Is Which

• Cosmo - fresh sunflower floral with jasmine and lime blossom. The unisex one
• Baby Powder - soft, clean and powdery. The gentlest and least divisive
• Buzz - mint, lavender and rosemary over jasmine, sandalwood and spice. The sharper, more masculine one
• Ariel - cedar and musk with lemon and orange. Citrus over something warmer
• All four are the same 150ml bottle on the same base. The only difference is the fragrance

How To Use It

• Spray once or twice onto a dry coat from 20 to 30 cm, aiming at the back and flanks
• Never spray at the head. If you want scent near the collar, spray a brush or a cloth and work it through instead
• Let it dry before the dog settles on furniture or gets groomed
• Less is genuinely more. A dog's nose is orders of magnitude better than yours, and what reads as a light scent to you is not light to them

What Is In It

• Aqua, alcohol denat, isopropyl myristate, polysorbate 20, parfum, DMDM hydantoin
• Alcohol denat is the carrier. It flashes off as the spray dries, which is what stops the coat staying damp - but it also means you keep it away from broken skin, eyes, nose and mouth
• DMDM hydantoin is the preservative. It works by slowly releasing formaldehyde, which is standard in this category and perfectly legal, but worth knowing if you or your dog have reacted to it before
• There is no conditioner or cleanser in here. A cologne scents a coat, it does not clean one

Who Makes It

• Furrish is a UK dog grooming range built for home use rather than for salons - the kit you would want between professional appointments
• The range covers the whole routine: brushes and combs, shampoos, a detangler, wipes, colognes, a towel and clippers

Good To Know

• For dogs. Not for cats - they groom it straight off, and they tolerate added fragrance far less well
• Contains denatured alcohol. Keep it off broken, raw or recently shaved skin, and out of eyes, nose and mouth
• A cologne covers a smell for a few hours. It does not fix one - a dog that smells again within a day usually has an ear infection, impacted anal glands, a skin problem or dental disease
• Not for puppies under twelve weeks
• Patch test anything new - a small amount on one spot, then leave it a day and check for redness before using it all over
• Grooming products are not treatments. Persistent scratching, bald patches, scabs, a greasy or yeasty-smelling coat, or a smell that comes back within a day of a bath all need a vet rather than another product
• Keep the bottle closed and out of direct sun. A car boot in a UAE summer will cook most grooming products
