Description
The Groom Professional Wondercoat Detangler Spray is the spray you reach for at the brushing stage -- it puts moisture straight back into dry hair so the comb slides through a knot instead of pulling the dog about.
Key Features
- Loosens knots: Softens the hair at the tangle rather than forcing the comb through it
- Instant moisture: Aimed at dry, static coats that catch on themselves
- No residue: Groom Professional say it leaves no greasy or sticky film
- Adds shine: A glossy finish as well as a workable one
- Fresh scent: A light finish rather than a heavy perfume
- Three sizes: 200ml, 450ml and 4L
How To Use It
- Work on a dry or towel-damp coat, one section at a time.
- Mist the section, leave it a moment, then comb from the ends inwards rather than ploughing in at the root.
- Hold the hair at the root with your other hand so the comb pulls against your fingers and not the skin.
- No rinsing. It is a leave-in.
Brushing Beats Detangling
A detangler loosens knots that already exist; it does not stop them forming. Long, fine and curly coats need combing right down to the skin two or three times a week. Brushing only the top layer leaves a felted mat underneath that looks fine until a groomer finds it.
Who Makes It
Groom Professional launched in 2009 on the Causeway Coast in Northern Ireland and is sold through the grooming trade supplier Christies Direct. The range was built for working salons rather than for the bathroom cupboard, which is why so much of it comes as a concentrate and in four-litre sizes. Groom Professional say the products are manufactured in the UK.
Good To Know
- This one is out of stock at the moment, so the page is here for reference while we wait on the next delivery.
- A solid mat tight against the skin needs clipping out by a groomer. Never use scissors -- skin lifts into a mat and is cut through far more easily than you would expect.
- Mist a small patch first on a cat. Cats groom everything off their coat and swallow it, and many object strongly to the hiss of a spray -- spray it onto the comb instead.
- Keep it out of the eyes, ears, nose and mouth. Rinse with clean water if any gets in.
- A shampoo cleans; it does not treat disease. Broken, scabby or weeping skin, bald patches, a smell that returns within days of a bath, or scratching to the point of bleeding all need a vet rather than a different bottle.
- Keep it out of reach of children and store it somewhere cool and dry.
