JUWEL Bioflow ONE Internal Aquarium Filter is the JUWEL Bioflow internal filter in the ONE size, the smallest Bioflow, fitted to the Primo range.

Key Features

• The filter JUWEL aquariums are built around: It sits inside the tank in its own corner box, so there are no external hoses to leak and nothing standing in the cabinet.
• Takes a stack of media: Mechanical pad, biological sponge and whichever chemical medium you need, in one housing. That is what makes it worth servicing rather than replacing.
• Size ONE: Media cartridges are sold by this letter, and the sizes do not interchange. Order media to match the filter, not the tank.
• Takes an AquaHeatPro heater: The JUWEL heaters are designed to sit inside the filter housing, out of sight, instead of being stuck to the back glass.

Looking After Filter Media

• Never rinse biological media under the tap. Dubai tap water is chlorinated, chlorine kills the bacteria you are trying to keep, and those bacteria are the entire value of the sponge. Rinse it in a bucket of tank water.
• Never change all the media at once. Swap one part and leave the rest, so the bacterial population survives and the tank does not restart its cycle.
• Mechanical pads clog and get replaced. Biological sponge and ceramic get rinsed and go back in. Chemical media are used up and then do nothing.

If The Filter Has Slowed Down

• It is usually blocked rather than broken. Check the mechanical pad first, the intake slot second and the impeller third.
• A filter that has stopped altogether is most often an impeller jammed with grit or a snail shell. Pull it, rinse it, check the shaft is not scored.

Good To Know

• Check what is in the box before you order. Ask us whether this one comes with a pump and a starter set of media, because that changes what else you need.
• A new filter is not a mature filter. It takes four to six weeks to grow the bacteria that process ammonia, and a bacterial starter such as JUWEL bioBoost shortens that wait without removing it.
• If you are replacing a filter on a running tank, move the old biological sponge across into the new housing. That carries the bacteria over and saves you cycling from scratch.
