Vitamin C Matters

• Vitamin C breaks down once a bag has been open a while, so a fresh bag and fresh greens such as bell pepper do more than an old bag.
• If a pig is unwell, pregnant or off its food, ask a vet about a vitamin C supplement rather than guessing a dose.

Good To Know

• This is not a replacement for hay. A grass eater needs unlimited grass hay in front of it all day; the mix is the smaller measured part, not the bulk of what it eats.
• Change food gradually. Mix the new food into the old over about a week so the gut bacteria have time to adjust.
• A grass eater that stops eating, or stops passing droppings, is an emergency. That needs a vet the same day, not a change of food.
• Keep the bag closed in a cool, dry cupboard. This is dry food and it goes stale quickly in heat and humidity.
