Description

Schesir After Dark Wholefood in Broth Variety Pack Wet Cat Food - 12 x 80 g is a mixed case of twelve 80 g Schesir After Dark servings in shredded fillet in broth, four recipes with three of each.

Key Features

  • Four recipes, three servings of each: The sensible way to start on a range, because you find out what the cat eats before you buy a case of one thing.
  • Grain-free and potato-free: Potato as well as cereal, which is worth saying because plenty of grain-free foods just swap one starch for the other.
  • No GMO ingredients: The brand's claim for the range, stated on the pack.
  • Real meat with liver, gizzard and heart: Organ meat in every recipe rather than muscle meat alone.
  • Complete and balanced: Each can is a whole meal, so a variety pack can be the whole diet.

This Is A Complete Food, And Not All Schesir Is

  • Worth being clear about, because Schesir sells more than one kind. After Dark is complete and balanced, so it can be the whole diet.
  • Schesir's Complements line is a complementary food. Its own label says so. A complementary food is a topper, not a diet, and a cat fed only on one will come up short on taurine, vitamins and minerals over time.
  • If you are buying one Schesir tin to feed and nothing else, buy from this range or from Complete & Balanced Nutrition. Ask us and we will point you at the right shelf rather than let you guess from the front of a tin.

Why There Is Liver, Heart And Gizzard In It

  • A cat that catches its own dinner eats the organs as well as the muscle, and the organs are where much of the nutrition sits.
  • Heart is one of the richest natural sources of taurine. Cats cannot make enough taurine themselves and have to take it in from food.
  • Liver carries vitamin A in a form cats use directly, which is why a small amount of it does more than a large amount of muscle meat.

Patè, Mousse Or Broth: Pick By Texture

  • Three textures across the range and it is the main reason a cat accepts or refuses a food. Patè is smooth and minced. Velvet Mousse is softer and whipped. Wholefood In Broth is shredded fillet in liquid.
  • A cat that licks the gravy and leaves the meat usually wants the mousse. A cat that wants something to chew usually wants the broth.
  • Older cats and cats with bad teeth tend towards the mousse. Buy one of each before you commit to a case of anything.
  • A cat raised on muscle meat alone may refuse organ meat at first on smell. If that happens, try the mousse, where it is blended through rather than sitting in recognisable pieces.

Buying A Variety Pack

  • Twelve 80 g servings, four recipes, three of each. The cheap way to find out what your cat will actually eat before you commit to a case of one.
  • Rotating recipes is fine on a complete food and it keeps a fussy cat interested in the bowl.
  • Ask us which four recipes are in the case before you order. The mix can change between deliveries and we would rather tell you than guess.
  • A variety pack is the wrong buy if you are ruling out a protein. For that you want a case of one named recipe, and we will tell you which.

Wet Food And Water, Which Matters More Here

  • A wet food is roughly three-quarters water. In this climate that is water going into the cat without it having to choose to drink, and cats are famously bad at choosing to drink.
  • It also means you are buying water by weight. That is the honest reason a tin looks dear per kilogram next to a bag of kibble.

Opened Tins, In This Heat

  • Cover an opened tin, refrigerate it, and use it within a day or two.
  • Let it come back to room temperature first. Cats refuse cold food, and you will think they have gone off it when they have only objected to the fridge.
  • Do not leave wet food down for hours in a warm room. This matters a great deal more here than it does in Italy, where it was formulated.

Good To Know

  • Potato-free as well as grain-free on this pack, which is worth having, because plenty of grain-free foods simply swap the cereal for potato starch.
  • Cats are far more stubborn about new food than dogs. Put the new tin beside the old one rather than swapping the bowl in one go, and do not take one refusal as the answer.
  • Twelve servings of 80 g is 960 g in total, so work out how many days that is for your cat before you compare it with a bigger tin.
  • Ask us for the composition panel and we will photograph it for you. The front of a tin is not enough to compare two foods.
