Schesir Soup Tuna with Squid Pouch Wet Cat Food - 6 x 40 g

Schesir Soup Tuna with Squid Pouch Wet Cat Food - 6 x 40 g is a complementary wet food for adult cats, with tuna as the first ingredient and calamari, in a soup.

Key Features

• Schesir states this is a complementary food: Its own copy says so. Fed alongside a complete diet, not as the whole of one - see the section below.
• Tuna as the first ingredient: First on the list is the claim worth having, and the brand states it for this recipe.
• Grain-free and gluten-free: Both stated by the brand for this range. Worth paying for if your cat reacts to grain, and a claim rather than a benefit if it does not.
• 100% natural ingredients, minimally processed: The brand's claim, with no added preservatives and no colourings.
• Steamed and hand-processed: Which is why the meat or fish holds together rather than turning to paste, and the brand's stated reason for the texture.
• An open, press and serve pouch: The brand's own description of the format. Nothing left in a tin and nothing going warm in a bowl.
• Tuna from sustainable fisheries: The brand's sourcing claim for its fish.
• Calamari, which is squid: An unusual second ingredient and the reason to pick this one for variety.

Schesir Calls This A Complementary Food, Not A Whole Diet

• Its own copy says so in those words, and it is the single most important thing on this page.
• A complementary food is fed alongside a complete and balanced diet, not as the whole of one. A cat fed nothing but this would be short of things it needs.
• That is not a mark against it. This is built to be poured over a complete food, to get water into a cat, or to tempt one that has gone off its dinner, and it is good at all three.
• Tell us what else your cat eats and we will work out how much of this fits alongside it. Two minutes, and worth it before you order a case.

What A Soup Is Actually For

• It is mostly liquid, and that is the point. A cat is bad at drinking - it evolved to take its water from what it caught - and in this climate a cat that runs slightly dry for years is a urinary problem waiting to happen.
• A soup is the easiest thing in the shop to get water into a cat with. Pour it over a dry food and the kibble carries it in.
• It is also the thing to reach for when a cat has stopped eating. A warm, strong-smelling liquid will often get a cat interested when nothing solid will.

Good To Know

• A 40 g pouch is small. That is deliberate on a food meant to go alongside something else, but it does mean this is not a cheap way to feed a cat by weight.
• Serve at room temperature and use an opened pack within a day, covered and refrigerated. Cats refuse cold food and you will think they have gone off it. Do not leave wet food down for hours in a warm room.
• Ask us for the composition and the analysis and we will photograph them. The feeding class is already settled by the brand's own wording, so the panel is for comparing this against whatever else you are weighing up.
