Terratlantis Cabinet for 88 cm Terrarium - 88 x 45 x 80 cm

Terratlantis Cabinet for 88 cm Terrarium - 88 x 45 x 80 cm is a cabinet made to stand under the 88 x 45 cm terrarium, measuring 88 x 45 x 80 cm.

Key Features

• Built for the 88 x 45 cm terrarium: The footprint is what has to match - a cabinet that is the right length but the wrong depth leaves glass overhanging an edge.
• Cabinet measures 88 x 45 x 80 cm: Its own size, not the terrarium's. Worth adding the two heights together before you decide where it goes.
• The shorter cabinet in the range: 80 cm rather than 90 cm, which keeps the total height sensible under one of the taller 88 cm enclosures.
• Black finish with storage compartments: Which is where the thermostat, the timer and the spare bulbs end up living.

Load, And What A Loaded Terrarium Actually Weighs

• A terrarium's shipping weight is the empty glass. What stands on the cabinet is that plus substrate, rock, branches, a water bowl and any water feature, and on a planted setup or one with a water section that can easily double the figure on the box.
• Terratlantis publishes no load figure for this particular cabinet, so there is no number to measure that against. The two cabinets in the range that are rated are rated well above what a matching terrarium weighs, but we are not going to tell you this one is until the supplier confirms it.
• What is worth attention either way is the floor and the assembly. A cabinet carrying that much wants to stand on a level, solid floor, with every fixing done up properly, and not on a rug that leaves one corner unsupported.

Board And Water, Worth Knowing Before You Assemble It

• This cabinet is made from furniture board. A terrarium contains water, and board that gets soaked swells, and stays swollen.
• A tipped water bowl, a misting system aimed slightly wrong or a condensation run from a glass door will all find the cabinet top. Wipe spills rather than leaving them, and if your setup involves standing water or regular misting, put something waterproof between the terrarium and the cabinet.
• The same goes for the inside. Equipment lives in these cupboards, and mains plugs, timers and ballasts should sit up off the cabinet floor rather than on it.

Good To Know

• Terratlantis does not publish a weight for this cabinet, so we are not putting a number on it. Assume a two-person lift and ask us to weigh the carton if the delivery route matters.
• Tell us what is going on top of it and we will ask the supplier for a load figure before you order.
• All three 88 cm glass terrariums in this range share the 88 x 45 footprint, so this cabinet suits any of them. Pairing it with the 75 cm tall enclosure gives a total of about 155 cm.
• One correction worth making plainly: this listing used to carry the 118 cm cabinet's description, weight and load rating. Those figures belong to a longer, taller and more expensive cabinet. This one is 88 x 45 x 80 cm.
• Tell us which terrarium you are pairing it with before you order. Matching the length is the easy part and matching the depth is where people go wrong.
