ZuPreem Natural, sold in newer packaging as True Harvest, is the dye-free pellet in the ZuPreem range. It is a complete daily food for cockatiels, quakers, lovebirds and small conures.

If you have looked at FruitBlend and been put off by the added colours, this is the answer. Natural contains no added colours, and the only preservatives are citric acid and mixed tocopherols, both natural. The pellets are a uniform light brown, which some owners find less appealing to look at and which makes absolutely no difference to the bird.

The recipe differs from FruitBlend in substance too, not just appearance. Where FruitBlend uses fruit, Natural uses vegetables and berries: celery, carrots, parsley, beets, blueberries and cranberries. It also carries more whole grains, with millet, oat groats and barley alongside the corn and wheat, which lifts fibre to 5.0% against FruitBlend's 3.5%.

Key Features

  • Complete daily food for cockatiels, quakers, lovebirds and small conures
  • No added colours, and only natural preservatives
  • Vegetables and berries: celery, carrots, parsley, beets, blueberries, cranberries
  • 5.0% fibre, higher than FruitBlend at 3.5%
  • Whole grains including millet, oat groats and barley
  • Ground flaxseed for omega fatty acids
  • Every pellet is nutritionally complete, so no selective feeding

Feeding Guide

Bird Daily Amount
Cockatiels, quakers, lovebirds, small conures 1/8 to 1/4 cup
  • Feed daily as the foundation of your bird's diet.
  • Keep fresh food and water available at all times.
  • Discard uneaten food before each feeding.
  • Converting from seed: cockatiels are stubborn about new food. Mix a small proportion of pellets into the seed and increase gradually over several weeks. Never starve a bird onto a new food, and weigh it regularly during the switch.

Storage

  • Store in a cool, dry place free of pests and insects.
  • Gently push the air from the bag and reseal after each use.
