The Catry Low Cat Scratching Post with Lounging Platform is a low, wide scratching stand at 56 cm, with four rope-wrapped posts under a padded lounging platform, made for kittens, older cats and anyone who cannot manage a tall tree.

Key Features

  • Only 56 cm tall, so a cat can step up rather than jump - it suits kittens, seniors and cats with stiff joints.
  • Four rope-wrapped posts spread the load and give four separate scratching surfaces.
  • Padded platform across the top with a soft cushion pad.
  • 58 x 38 cm oval base - fits beside a sofa, under a console table or in a small flat.
  • Ball toy at floor level.
  • Low centre of gravity, so it does not need anchoring to a wall.

Good To Know

  • This is a single-level scratcher and lounger, not a climbing tree. A young, energetic cat will scratch on it happily but will still want somewhere high to sit.
  • Of everything in the Catry range, this is the easiest model for a kitten, a senior cat or a cat with stiff joints to get onto.
  • It arrives flat-packed and takes an adult to build. Work through the steps in order and tighten every bolt fully, then re-check them after a few weeks and every few months after that, because use slowly works them loose.
  • Keep cats and children away from the loose bolts and small fittings while you are building it.
  • Scratching is normal, healthy behaviour, not damage. If your cat is working on the sofa, stand the post right beside the spot they are using and move it gradually once they switch. Never punish a cat for scratching.
  • Rope-wrapped posts shed short fibres as they are used. That is normal and a sign the post is doing its job - vacuum around the base.
  • Particle board and plush are not waterproof. Vacuum the plush and spot-clean marks with a barely damp cloth, and keep it away from bathrooms, balconies and anywhere it will get wet.
  • A cat that suddenly stops jumping or climbing, or that will not use a scratcher it used to love, is often in pain. Arthritis is common in cats and easy to miss, so have them checked by a vet rather than assuming they have simply gone off it.
