Good To Know

• Wipe the acrylic bowl with a soft, damp cloth only. Household cleaners, alcohol wipes and abrasive sponges will haze and craze acrylic. The pad inside lifts out to be washed separately.
• The bowl is a fixed size and does not flex. Measure a large or long-bodied cat before ordering.
• It arrives flat-packed and takes an adult to build. Work through the steps in order and tighten every bolt fully, then re-check them after a few weeks and every few months after that, because climbing slowly works them loose.
• Keep cats and children away from the loose bolts and small fittings while you are building it.
• The dangling toys are for supervised play. A cat that chews and swallows string or pompom fibres can get a dangerous gut blockage, so check the toy regularly for fraying and cut it off if yours is a chewer.
• Kittens and older or arthritic cats can struggle with big gaps between levels. Put a stool or step beside the tower, or choose one of the lower models in the range.
• Cats guard high spots. In a multi-cat home, two or three smaller perching places spread around the house usually work better than one big tower in a corner.
• Scratching is normal, healthy behaviour, not damage. If your cat is working on the sofa, stand the tower right beside the spot they are using and move it gradually once they switch. Never punish a cat for scratching.
• Rope-wrapped posts shed short fibres as they are used. That is normal and a sign the post is doing its job - vacuum around the base.
• Particle board and plush are not waterproof. Vacuum the plush and spot-clean marks with a barely damp cloth, and keep the tower away from bathrooms, balconies and anywhere it will get wet.
• A cat that suddenly stops jumping or climbing, or that will not use a tower it used to love, is often in pain. Arthritis is common in cats and easy to miss, so have them checked by a vet rather than assuming they have simply gone off it.
