Description

The Chris Christensen SmartWash50 De-Shed Concentrated Shampoo for Dogs and Cats is the de-shedding version of Chris Christensen's SmartWash50 concentrate: added moisturisers that loosen dead coat so it comes out in the bath rather than on your sofa.

Key Features

  • Added moisturisers that help loose, dead coat release during the wash.
  • Cuts brushing and de-matting time afterwards.
  • Aimed at heavy shedders and at coats that are starting to pack down.
  • Banana coconut fragrance.
  • Dilutes up to 50:1.
  • 473 ml or 3.8 L.
  • Made in the USA.

How To Use

  • Dilute first - up to 50:1, and never less than 25:1.
  • Roughly 20 ml of shampoo to 1 litre of warm water.
  • Work it right down to the skin, because that is where the dead undercoat sits.
  • Rinse thoroughly, then dry and brush the coat out while it is drying.

Good To Know

  • This is a 50:1 concentrate and must never be used neat. Chris Christensen's instruction is to dilute it at least 25:1 and up to 50:1 - straight from the bottle it is far too strong for skin.
  • Mixing at 50:1: roughly 20 ml of shampoo to 1 litre of warm water. At 25:1 it is about 40 ml per litre. Measure it rather than guessing.
  • The 3.8 litre bottle is the professional size and weighs around 4 kg full. The Chris Christensen gallon pump fits it if you would rather not pour.
  • A de-shedding shampoo loosens coat that is already dead. It does not stop a dog shedding - that is a seasonal and hormonal process.
  • Sudden or patchy hair loss is not shedding. Bald patches, thinning down the flanks or a coat that comes away in clumps need a vet.
  • Never shave a double-coated dog to reduce shedding. The undercoat is what insulates against heat as well as cold, and it often does not grow back correctly.
  • Avoid the eyes. If any gets in, rinse immediately with plenty of clean water. For external use only.
  • If your pet has sensitive skin or has reacted to a product before, test a little on a small patch first and stop using it if you see redness, itching or scurf.
  • Rinse until the water runs completely clear. Shampoo left in the coat is one of the most common causes of itching after a bath.
  • Dry thoroughly - skin folds, ears, armpits and between the toes. A coat left damp in UAE humidity is how hot spots and yeast get started.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • This is a grooming product, not a treatment. Persistent itching, scratching, hair loss, scabs, a smell or a rash point to a skin problem - fleas, allergies, mites or infection - and need a vet rather than a different shampoo.
