FARMA Exotic Mix Bird Food - 20kg

The FARMA Exotic Mix Bird Food is a seven-seed blend for exotic finches and other small seed-eaters, carrying niger seed and peeled oats where the Budget version carries extra millets.

Key Features

• Seven seeds: canary seed, yellow millet, red millet, peeled oats, linseed, panicum and niger seed
• Niger and linseed bring the oil content, and peeled oats are soft enough for small birds to take easily
• Canary seed and millet make the base, as in most small-finch diets
• 20 kg sack
• Made in Greece by Farma Friends, a pet-food maker near Thessaloniki that has been blending seed since 1997

Feeding

• Small finches eat little but almost constantly. Keep seed available and tip the husks off daily
• Add egg food during breeding, fresh greens, cuttlebone and fine grit
• Clean, fresh water at all times, changed at least daily in hot weather

Good To Know

• The difference from the Exotic Budget Mix is the seed choice rather than the count — both are seven-seed blends. This one carries niger and peeled oats where the Budget carries extra millets
• Seven seeds is still a narrow mix. It is a sound base but not, on its own, a complete diet for a breeding aviary
• Niger and linseed are oily and go rancid. Keep the sack sealed and cool
• Check the sack for weevils and pantry moth in warm weather, and use it within a couple of months
• A 20 kg sack is aviary and breeder quantity. For one or two birds, buy the retail bag instead — seed goes stale and oily seed goes rancid
