Description
Hobby Filter Media Bag is an elastic, tear-resistant mesh bag for loose filter media - carbon, zeolite, peat, humic granulate, anything that comes as granules. It sounds trivial and it is not: loose media in a filter migrates into the impeller, and getting it out again means stripping the pump.
Key Features
- Highly Elastic: stretches round whatever shape your filter basket is, rather than forcing you to pack media loose.
- Tear-Resistant: it is the seam that usually fails on a cheap bag, and that is precisely when granules end up in the pump.
- Two Sizes: 2 litre and 4 litre.
- Lift It Out In One Piece, which is the whole point. Swapping carbon becomes a ten-second job.
Good To Know
- Pick the size above. The 2 litre suits most internal and small external filters; the 4 litre is for large canisters and sumps.
- Rinse the bag out when you change the media. They last for years if you do.
- Do not overfill it. Media needs water flowing through it, not past it.
- Label it or note the date. The commonest mistake with carbon is leaving it in for months.
- Clearly worth saying: this is the bag only. The media goes in it and is sold separately.
