JBL ProNovo Bel Grano Baby - 3 x 10ml is a fine food for fry and very small fish.
Key Features
-
Fine enough for a tiny mouth: fry can only take food that fits, which is the single most common reason a brood fails.
-
Little and often: young fish grow fastest on several small feeds a day rather than one or two.
-
Three sealed sachets: fine fry food goes stale quickly once opened, so small sachets waste less.
How To Feed It
- Feed small amounts two or three times a day rather than one big meal. Fish have very short guts and do better on little and often.
- Give only what is cleared in two or three minutes. Anything still drifting after that will rot in the substrate and push your nitrate up.
- Net out the leftovers. Uneaten food is the usual reason a tank goes cloudy a day or two after feeding.
- A fasting day once a week does healthy adult fish no harm and gives the filter a chance to catch up.
Good To Know
- Overfeeding is behind most cloudy water and high nitrate. The food is rarely the problem; the amount almost always is.
- Keep the tub shut and somewhere cool and dry. Damp gets into fish food easily, and once it does the vitamins go and mould can follow.
- Buy a size you will finish inside a few months. A big tub left open for a year is a false economy.
- A fry tank fouls faster than any other. Feed small amounts often and change water more often than you would for adults.
- Match the piece size to the mouth. Anything a fish cannot swallow gets picked at, dropped and left in the gravel.
