Description
The KW Zone Metal Halide Lamp Fixture is a 150 watt halide hood with a fluorescent tube running down each side, built for marine and reef displays where a deep tank needs light to reach the bottom. Metal halide remains the point-source option: it throws the shimmer across the sand that flat LED panels do not.

Setup & Maintenance
Hang or mount the fixture with clearance above the water and room for air to move around the housing. Halide lamps lose output well before they stop lighting, so they are replaced on a schedule, and a lamp change is also when corals need re-acclimating to the brighter output.
Safety
- Never look directly at a lit metal halide lamp.
- The fixture runs hot. Keep it clear of anything that can scorch and let it cool before handling.
- Disconnect from the mains before changing a lamp or tube.
- Not submersible. For indoor aquarium use only.
Good To Know
- Listed by KW Zone under model MH-600.
- The halide lamp and the two tubes are replaced separately, and neither is a standard household fitting.
- A 150 W halide is sized for a deeper display. Shallow tanks are usually lit with fluorescent or LED instead.
