Description
Schesir Kitten Tuna in Jelly Pouch Wet Cat Food - 10 x 85 g is a wet kitten food of real tuna fillet in jelly, in ten 85 g pouches.
Key Features
- Real tuna fillet: Named fish rather than an unnamed blend, and useful for a kitten that reacts to chicken.
- No added preservatives or dyes: The brand's claim for its natural range, and the reason an opened pouch does not keep the way a supermarket one does.
- Sunflower oil for the omega fatty acids: Which is the part that shows in a kitten's coat before it shows anywhere else.
- Pouches rather than tins: Tear open and serve, with nothing to wash up.
Complete Or Complementary: We Will Check The Pack For You
- Schesir sells both complete foods and complementary ones, and this product's own description does not say which it is.
- We are not going to guess on a kitten's behalf. Ask us and we will photograph the feeding classification off the actual pack before you order.
- If you want a certainty today, the Baby Mousse, Baby Wholefood, Pouch Cream and Kitten Care ranges all state complete and balanced in their own right, and we will point you at the one for your kitten's age.
Which Schesir Kitten Food For Which Age
- From two weeks: Baby Thrive, and only as a supplement alongside milk or a complete food.
- From one month: the Baby Multipack, which is mousse with finely chopped fillets to get a kitten used to solid food.
- Nought to six months: Pouch Cream, the softest of them and the one for weaning.
- Two to twelve months: Baby Mousse and Baby Wholefood.
- Three to twelve months: Can Mousse 3-12 and Kitten Care 3-12.
- Move to an adult food at about a year. Tell us your kitten's age in weeks and we will tell you which of these it should be on now and what comes next.
What A Kitten Actually Needs, And Why Not Just Less Adult Food
- A kitten needs roughly twice the energy per kilogram that an adult cat does, and has a stomach a fraction of the size. That is the whole reason kitten food exists: more in less.
- It also means small meals, often. Four a day at eight weeks, dropping to two by the time it is a year old.
- Taurine and DHA are the two that matter most early on. Cats cannot make enough taurine themselves, and DHA is used in building the brain and the retina while the kitten is still growing.
- A kitten that is not gaining weight, or has diarrhoea for more than a day, needs a vet rather than a different food. They dehydrate fast.
Wet Food And Water, Which Matters More Here
- A wet food is roughly three-quarters water. In this climate that is water going into the kitten without it having to choose to drink.
- Kittens dehydrate faster than adult cats because they are small. A wet meal is the simplest insurance against that, and it is worth more here than it is in Italy, where the food was formulated.
Opened Tins And Pouches, In This Heat
- Cover an opened tin or pouch, refrigerate it, and use it within a day.
- Let it come back to room temperature first. A kitten will refuse cold food and you will think it has gone off it.
- Do not leave wet food down for hours in a warm room. With a kitten, put down what it will finish and take the rest away.
Good To Know
- Start a new food beside the old one rather than swapping the bowl in one go. Kittens take to new food far more readily than adult cats, which is the argument for getting a kitten used to both wet and dry now and saving yourself the fight later.
- Ask us for the composition panel and we will photograph it for you. The front of a pack is not enough to compare two foods.
