Large breeds — Maine Coons, Norwegian Forest cats, Ragdolls, Siberians — are not simply scaled-up housecats. They carry more muscle, they take three to four years to finish growing rather than one, and they move a great deal for their size. That combination needs concentrated energy, which is why this recipe runs at 18% fat and 3,875 kcal/kg rather than the moderate levels of a weight-control food.

Salmon supplies omega-3 fatty acids for joints, skin and the long coat these breeds are known for. Beef fat at 8% carries the energy, and hydrolysed turkey protein adds highly digestible amino acids. There is no chicken meat and no chicken fat, and no grain or potato.

Feeding Guide

• Follow the feeding table printed on the bag. The daily amount depends on your cat's age, size, activity and environment.
• Serve dry, or moistened with lukewarm water.
• Introduce gradually, mixing increasing amounts into the old food over 7 to 10 days.
• Adjust to keep your cat in lean condition. Large breeds should be big, not heavy.
• Always provide plenty of fresh drinking water, and consider adding wet food. Cats on dry food alone drink less than they need.

Storage

• Store in a cool, dry place.
• Reseal the bag after each use.
