Farmina N&D Prime Lamb & Blueberry Adult Medium & Maxi Dry Dog Food - 2.5kg

The Farmina N&D Prime Lamb & Blueberry Adult Medium & Maxi Dry Dog Food is the medium and large-breed version of Farmina's grain-free lamb recipe — the same formulation approach as the Mini, in a larger kibble.

Key Features

• Fresh lamb and dried lamb lead the recipe, with herring, dried egg and herring oil behind them
• Analytical constituents: 34% protein, 18% fat, 2.6% fibre, 8.3% ash, 9% moisture, 1.1% calcium, 0.8% phosphorus
• DHA at 0.5% and EPA at 0.3%, with omega-6 at 3.3% and omega-3 at 0.9%
• Grain-free, with sweet potato as the carbohydrate rather than cereal
• Farmina describes the N&D Prime range as low-glycaemic, with 98% of the protein coming from animal sources
• Dried blueberry, apple, pomegranate, orange and spinach, plus glucosamine and chondroitin sulphate for joints
• Made by Farmina, an Italian pet-food company based at Nola, near Naples

Feeding

• Feed to the table printed on the bag, by weight and activity, and weigh the portion rather than scooping it
• Change over across about seven days, mixing a little more of the new food in each day. A sudden switch usually means loose stools
• Split the daily amount across two or three meals rather than one large one
• Always leave fresh, clean drinking water available

Storage

• Store in a cool, dry place and reseal the bag after each use. Grain-free kibble is high in fat and goes stale once air reaches it

Good To Know

• The 2.5 kg bag is small for a large dog — a 30 kg dog can empty it in well under a fortnight. Worth comparing the cost per kilo against the bigger bags
• Glucosamine and chondroitin are there because large breeds carry more joint risk, but no food prevents hip or elbow dysplasia. Keeping the dog lean does far more than any supplement
• Deep-chested breeds are at risk of bloat, which is a surgical emergency. Feed smaller meals and avoid hard exercise for an hour either side of eating
• Contains herring and egg as well as lamb, so it is not a single-protein diet
• The full composition and the current feeding table are printed on the bag. Farmina revises recipes from time to time, so the pack is the binding version
