JBL ProScape NPK Macroelements - 250ml

JBL ProScape NPK Macroelements - 250ml is a macronutrient fertiliser for planted and aquascaping tanks, carrying nitrogen as nitrate, phosphorus as phosphate, potassium and magnesium. It is the supplement you add when a heavily planted tank has used up the nutrients its fish produce, and JBL gives a dosing table that changes with your light and CO2.

• Nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and magnesium: the nutrients plants use in quantity, as opposed to the traces they need a pinch of.
• For aquascaping tanks: a densely planted tank under strong light runs out of these faster than its fish can replace them.
• Dosing follows light and CO2: JBL ties the rate to how hard the tank is being driven, which is the only sensible way to dose a macro fertiliser.

JBL's Dosing Guide

• Strong light with CO2: 6ml per 100 litres, daily.
• Strong light without CO2: 2ml per 100 litres, three times a week.
• Weak light with CO2: 2ml per 100 litres, daily.
• Weak light without CO2: 2ml per 100 litres, weekly.
• These are JBL's figures and they are a starting point. Consumption depends on how much plant mass you have and how hard you are driving it.

Good To Know

• This adds nitrate and phosphate on purpose. In a tank that already has plenty of both you will be feeding algae rather than plants, so test first and do not dose a tank with a nitrate problem.
• If plants are not growing, light and CO2 are the usual limit, not fertiliser. Adding nutrients a plant cannot use is how algae gets its opening.
• Keep the bottle closed, cool, out of the sun and away from children and pets.
• Dose after a water change rather than before, or you pour most of it down the drain.
