Description
JBL Sintomec is a biological filter media of porous sintered glass rings. The pores give filter bacteria a huge surface to live on, so they can break down ammonia and nitrite from fish waste.
Key Features
- Large Surface Area: JBL give an active surface of about 1,200 m² per litre.
- Biological Filtration: home for the bacteria that keep the water safe for fish.
- Ring Shape: water flows freely through and around the rings without clogging quickly.
- Long-Lasting: the glass rings do not break down, so they are cleaned and reused rather than replaced.
Good To Know
- Put it in the second-last stage of the filter, after the coarse sponges.
- Rinse before use to remove dust, or the water may turn milky for a while.
- When cleaning, rinse it gently in old tank water, never under the tap, so the bacteria survive.
- Swap only part of the media at a time, never all at once.
