Zolux Duplex 250 Wooden Nesting Box with Landing Shelf - 25 x 25 x 15 cm

Zolux Duplex 250 Wooden Nesting Box with Landing Shelf is a solid wood nesting box, 25 x 25 x 15 cm, with a 50 mm entrance and a shelf outside it for the bird to land on.

Key Features

• Landing shelf projects below the entrance, so a bird arrives on wood rather than scrabbling at the hole
• 50 mm entrance hole set high in the front
• Solid wood 10 mm thick, not ply or board
• Lid lifts off, so you can look in on a clutch without taking the box down
• Zolux shows it on the pack for budgies, lovebirds and Gouldian finches

Good To Know

• Nesting material is not included. Most small birds want something to line the box with, such as coconut fibre, sisal or soft hay.
• Leaving a nest in the cage all year round encourages a hen to lay clutch after clutch, which drains her calcium. Take it out once the chicks have fledged.
• A hen needs a calcium source in the cage before the first egg, not after it - a cuttlebone or a mineral block.
• Mites shelter in the corners of a wooden box between clutches. Scrape it out and let it dry in the sun before it goes back in.
