Good To Know

• Buy by the cat rather than the room. A cat should fit curled inside the rim without hanging over it, so measure yours asleep rather than stretched out.
• Deep pile is warm. In a UAE summer most cats abandon it for tile and come back when the air conditioning is on, which is normal and not a sign they dislike it.
• Shake it out and brush the pile between washes. Long fur mats if it goes through a machine too often; the centre cushion is the part meant to come out.
• A high rim is harder for an arthritic cat to step over. If yours hesitates at the edge, a flat mat is the kinder choice.
