Description
The Flamingo Isa Cat-Face Ceramic Bowl is a glazed ceramic dish moulded in the shape of a cat's face, 14 cm across and holding 170 ml, for either food or water.
Key Features
- Shallow and wide, so a cat eats without pressing its whiskers into the sides of the bowl
- 170 ml capacity and 14 cm across — the right size for a portion of wet food rather than a day's water
- Glazed ceramic, which does not scratch the way plastic does and so does not hold bacteria in the scratches
- The weight of the ceramic keeps it on the floor. It will not skate across tiles like a plastic dish
- Moulded as a cat's face with ears, whiskers and a nose, in black or blue
- Made by Flamingo Pet Products, a Belgian pet supplier based in Olen with more than 45 years in the trade
Looking After It
- Wash it between meals. Wet food left in a bowl goes off quickly in UAE heat, and a greasy bowl is a common cause of feline chin acne
- Dishwasher-safe glazed ceramic in normal use, though a very hot cycle will dull the outside finish over time
- Check the glaze for chips. A chipped bowl should be retired — the unglazed clay underneath absorbs moisture and bacteria
- Two bowls are better than one: cats generally prefer water away from food
Good To Know
- Ceramic breaks. On a tiled kitchen floor, a dropped bowl is a bin job and a sharp mess
- 170 ml is a food-sized portion. As a water bowl it needs refilling more than once a day
- Plastic bowls are a known cause of feline chin acne. Ceramic is one of the usual recommendations when a vet suggests switching
- The ears and moulded detail mean a couple of corners a sponge will not reach on its own. A bottle brush deals with it
