Hobby Terrarium Lamp Cable With Plug & Switch - 2m is a replacement mains lead with a moulded plug and an inline on/off switch, made to DIN EN specification, for Hobby terrarium lamps and heaters. On a piece of equipment that is otherwise sound, a damaged lead is not a reason to buy a new lamp.

Electrical Safety, Plainly
- A chewed, cracked or heat-damaged lead is dangerous and must be replaced, not taped. Terrarium leads fail for two reasons: rodents and heat. Check both.
- Route it away from the heat source. A lead resting against a hot lamp housing will perish, and that is usually how it got damaged the first time.
- Leave a drip loop so condensation and misting water run off the cable rather than down into the plug.
- If you are not confident, get an electrician to fit it. Mains wiring above a damp enclosure is not the place to learn.
- Use an RCD-protected socket for anything electrical near water.
Good To Know
- This listing is one 2 metre lead with plug and switch.
- UAE mains suits this. Hobby build to 230V 50Hz, which is what comes out of the wall here, so there is no voltage problem. The plug is the European two-pin type, so you will want an adapter or a UK plug fitted - and it is worth running tank and terrarium equipment through an RCD-protected socket.
- Check it is the right fitting for your lamp before ordering - message us with the model if you are unsure.
- Unplug at the wall before changing a lead. The switch on the cable is not an isolator.
