Howbone Prime Jerky Dog Treats - 75g - Chicken & Milk

Howbone Prime Jerky Dog Treats - 75g is a pouch of soft jerky sticks sold in two versions, Chicken and Chicken and Milk. Howbone describes the meat as human grade and hand trimmed, and the sticks are soft enough to tear into smaller pieces for training or hand over whole as a reward.

Key Features

• Real chicken: the pack is labelled real chicken meat rather than a chicken flavouring, which is not the same thing and is worth checking on any jerky.
• Two versions: plain Chicken, or Chicken and Milk for a milder, slightly sweeter stick.
• Tears easily: a soft stick can be pulled into several small pieces, so one stick stretches across a training session.
• Added vitamins and minerals: Howbone says the sticks are fortified to support the immune system; this is the brand's claim rather than a proven effect.
• Small pouch: 75g is a sensible size to try a flavour before committing to a larger pack.

Good To Know

• Treats are extra calories. Keep them to roughly a tenth of what your dog eats in a day and take the difference off the main meal.
• Introduce any new treat over a few days. A sudden change can give a dog loose stools even when nothing is wrong with the food.
• Soft jerky is chewed and swallowed quickly, so it does little for teeth. Use a dental chew if cleaning is what you are after.
• Press the pack closed again after each use and keep it somewhere cool and dry. Left open, these dry out and lose the smell that makes a dog want them.
• The Chicken and Milk version contains milk, so leave it alone if your dog does not get on with dairy.
