Flamingo Bentonite Clumping Cat Litter, Baby Powder Scent - 15kg

The Flamingo Bentonite Clumping Cat Litter, Baby Powder Scent is a 15 kg bag of fine-grained clumping bentonite litter, scented with baby powder, with granules of 0.3 to 1.2 mm.

Key Features

• Sodium bentonite clay, which swells on contact with urine and binds it into a solid lump that lifts out whole
• Fine granules of 0.3 to 1.2 mm, which is the texture most cats prefer — closest to the sand they would dig in naturally
• Perfumed with baby powder, and Flamingo rates the bag as high absorption, economical in use and low dust
• Flamingo states it is also suitable for kittens
• 15 kg, the largest bag in this range
• Made by Flamingo Pet Products, a Belgian pet supplier based in Olen with more than 45 years in the trade

Getting The Best From It

• Most cats prefer a bed of litter around 5 cm deep. Too shallow and they will not dig; too deep and it tips out of the tray
• Scoop the clumps out daily and top up what you remove. Clumping litter works best when you take the waste out rather than change the whole tray
• Top up rather than replacing everything. With a clumping litter, changing the whole tray weekly throws away litter that is still working
• Change litter gradually. Mix the new one in with the old over a week or so, because cats can refuse a tray that suddenly feels or smells different
• Never flush clumping bentonite. It swells, and it will block a drain
• Pour slowly and hold the bag low. Even a low-dust clay litter raises some dust if you tip it from a height

Good To Know

• Scented litter is chosen for the person, not the cat. Some cats will not use a heavily perfumed tray at all, so if yours starts going elsewhere, try the unscented version before anything else
• Fine clay tracks. Expect grit outside the tray, and use a litter mat if that bothers you
• Heavy to carry and heavy to bin. 15 kg is good value per kilo, but it is a genuine lift
• Cat faeces can carry toxoplasma. Anyone pregnant or immunocompromised should leave the tray to someone else, or wear gloves and wash their hands afterwards
• Bentonite is mined clay. It is effective and cheap, but it is not biodegradable and it is not a green choice
• The listing carries two different bag designs for this product. Both are the 15 kg baby powder litter, but the pack that arrives may not match the first photo
